Means of irony rendering in English translations of Mikhail Bulgakov's novel “The Master and Margarita”

Abstract

Выпускная квалификационная работа посвящена теме "Способы передачи иронии в английских переводах романа М.А. Булгакова "Мастер и Маргарита"". Объем работы составляет 66 страниц. Материалом исследования послужил роман М.А. Булгакова "Мастер и Маргарита", а также три перевода произведения на английский язык, выполненные Р. Пивером с Л. Волохонской, М. Гленни и М. Гинсбург. ВКР состоит из введения, двух глав с выводами и заключения. Во введении раскрывается актуальность исследования, ставится цель и задачи, определяются объект и предмет научных поисков. В первой главе раскрываются теоретические подходы к изучению иронии. Во второй главе анализируются способы, к которым прибегают переводчики для передачи иронии с русского языка на английский. В заключении подводятся итоги исследования.

Graduate qualification work considers the topic "Means of irony rendering in English translations of Mikhail Bulgakov's novel 'The Master and Margarita'". The length of the work is 66 pages. Mikhail Bulgakov's novel "The Master and Margarita" and three English translations of this novel made by R. Pevear& L. Volokhonsky, M. Ginsburg and M. Glenny served as the material for the study. Graduate qualification work consists of the introduction, two chapters with summaries and the conclusion. The introduction reveals the relevance of the work, sets purpose and objectives of the study and defines the subject and the object of the study. The first chapter of the work considers different theoretical approaches to the study of irony. Means of irony rendering from Russian to English which the translators of the novel use are analyzed in the second chapter of the work. The summary of the work is given in the conclusion.
