Translation of imaginary world realia as illustrated by the "Game of Thrones" television series

Abstract

Данная выпускная квалификационная работа посвящена проблеме передачи реалий вымышленного мира в переводе, в частности, выявлению наиболее частотных типов реалий и способов их передачи на русский язык. Объектом исследования являются лексические единицы, содержащие культурный компонент семантики и называемые «реалии». Предметом исследования являются особенности их передачи в сериале «Игра престолов». Материалом исследования послужил сериал ‘Game of Thrones’ и его перевод LostFilm на русский язык. В ходе исследования были выявлены основные типы реалий, а также определены основные способы их передачи на русский язык.

This bachelor thesis is devoted to the problem of transferring the realia of the fictional world in translation. The paper studies the most frequent types of realia and the main ways of their transfer into Russian. The object of the study is lexical units that contain the cultural component of semantics and are called ‘realia’. The subject of the study is the features of their transfer in the series ‘The Game of Thrones’. The study is based on the series ‘Game of Thrones’ and its LostFilm translation into Russian. The research identifies the main types of realia and the main ways of their transfer into Russian.
