Discursive characteristics of exam answers to academic writing tasks: A case study of IELTS answer texts

Abstract

Работа посвящена изучению дискурсивных особенностей письменной части международного экзамена IELTS Academic. В работе исследуется специфика организации дискурса в первом и во втором заданиях IELTS секции академическое письмо, а также предлагаются стратегии, необходимые для достижения наилучшего результата в написании экзаменационных сочинений IELTS. Работа выполнена на стыке таких направлений современной лингвистики как дискурсивный анализ, прагмалингвистика и лингводидактическая тестология.

The study aims to explore discursive features of the written part of the IELTS Academic test. In this paper, we investigate the specificity of the discourse organization in the first and the second tasks of the IELTS Academic Writing test and propose strategies required to achieve the best result in writing IELTS Academic essays. The study is done at the intersection of the modern branches of linguistics such as discourse analysis, pragmalinguistics, and linguodidactic testology.
