Epicurus's doctrine of the soul

Abstract

Данная работа посвящена исследованию проблемных мест теории души Эпикура. Главные рассматриваемые аспекты - физический характер души, её взаимодействие с остальным организмом, доктрина частей и доктрина элементов. Для наиболее точного понимания проблемных моментов используется сравнительно-исторический анализ: рассматриваются теории предшественников и современников Эпикура с целью определения места учения о душе Эпикура в соответствующей традиции. Работа основана преимущественно на анализе античных источников, содержащих учение о душе Эпикура и прочих философов, а также включает в себя рассмотрение точек зрения современных исследователей.

This paper is devoted to the study of problematic places in the theory of the soul of Epicurus. The main aspects under consideration are the physical character of the soul, its interaction with the rest of the aggregate, the doctrine of parts and the doctrine of elements. For a more accurate understanding of the problems, comparative-historical analysis is used: the theories of the predecessors and contemporaries of Epicurus are examined with the aim of determining the place of the doctrine of the soul of Epicurus in the corresponding tradition. The study is based mainly on the analysis of ancient sources, containing the doctrine of the soul of Epicurus and other philosophers, and also includes the consideration of the points of view of modern researchers.
