Linguistic means of stylisation and strategies of translating them into Russian: Evidence from the book "Das Baby: Inbetriebnahme, Wartung und Instandhaltung"

Abstract

На данный момент существует целый ряд классификаций т. н. утилитарных текстов и рекомендаций по их переводу. Однако к стилизованным текстам зачастую нельзя применить общие правила, так как форма в них может не соответствовать содержанию. На материале книги «Младенец. Руководство пользователя» Л. Боргенихта были рассмотрены различные средства стилизации (экстралингвистические, лексические, грамматические) и проведен сопоставительный анализ переводов на русский и немецкий языки. В результате удалось выработать переводческие стратегии и наметить пути дальнейших исследований.

Currently there is a wide array of various classifications of so-called functional texts (germ. “Gebrauchstext”), as well as recommendations for their translation. However, application of those recommendations to styled texts is often next to impossible because of discrepancy between form and content. Using the book «The Baby Owner's Manual» by L. Borgenicht as the main research material, we explored different stylization methods (extralinguistical, lexical, grammatical) and analyzed its translations into both Russian and German. In the end certain translation strategies have been developed and the course for future research has been set.
