Linguocultural type "the Scottish Рerson" in British fiction (with respeсt to translation)

Abstract

В настоящей магистерской диссертации проводится исследование лингвокультурного типажа «шотландец» на материале произведений британских авторов (Иэна Рэнкина, Джоан Роулинг, Тэда Вуда) и их переводах на русский язык. Материалом для работы послужили 300 примеров, объективирующих лингвокультурный типаж «шотландец». Работа состоит из введения, двух глав, заключения, списка использованной литературы и приложения. Первая глава посвящена изучению теории лингвокультурных типажей: их структуры и методологии описания. В диссертации приводится подробный анализ соотношения понятий «лингвокультурный типаж» с рядом смежных терминов: «стереотип», «роль», «миф», «модельная личность». Рассматриваются лингвокультурные аспекты перевода, и дается анализ методов и принципов художественного перевода отечественной школы. Представлены также способы языковые приемы создания речевого и общего портрета персонажа; проведен анализ типов переводческих трансформаций зарубежных и отечественных ученых. Во второй главе продемонстрирован анализ составляющих лингвокультурного типажа: его понятийных, образных и ценностных компонентов. Здесь также приводятся и интерпретируются данные ассоциативных экспериментов, направленных на выявление аксиологических характеристик лингвокультурного типажа «шотландец» в английском и русском языках. Изучены способы создания британскими авторами лингвокультурного типажа «шотландец». Кроме того, в настоящей главе приведен анализ трансформаций, используемых переводчиками при воссоздании данного типажа на материале русского языка. Для верификации полученных количественных данных проведен переводческий эксперимент, подтверждающий выдвинутые в магистерской диссертации положения.

The present master’s thesis deals with studying the linguocultural type «Scottish person» as exemplified in the works of the British authors (Ian Rankin, J.K. Rowling, Ted Wood) and their translations into the Russian language. The basis for the work encompasses 300 examples identifying the linguocultural type «Scottish person». The work structure consists of an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion, a bibliography list and an annex. The first chapter is devoted to the study of the linguocultural type’s theory: its structure and description methodology. The present thesis provides a detailed analytic investigation of the relationship between the concept of the "linguocultural type" and a number of related terms: "stereotype", "role", "myth", "model personality". We have a look at the linguocultural aspects of translation, and present an analysis of the methods and principles of the literary translation introduced by the Russian scholars. This chapter also introduces literary devices used to create a speech and general portrait of a character; we carry out an analysis of the translation types introduced by foreign and domestic scholars. The second chapter gives the analysis of the linguocultural type constituents: its notional, figurative and evaluative components. It also demonstrates and interprets the results of associative experiments aimed at detecting the axiological characteristics of the linguocultural type "Scottish person" both in English and Russian. The ways to create the linguocultural type "Scottish person" used by the British authors are studied. Moreover, the present chapter provides an analysis of the transformations used by translators while reproducing this linguocultural type in the Russian language. In order to verify the quantitative data received, we carry out a translation experiment confirming the provisions made in the master's thesis.
