Artist as a curator of an unrealized project in the period of 1980s-2010s

Abstract

В диссертации исследуется проблематика нереализации художественного проекта / выставки по причине того, что художник посчитал, что в данный момент его высказывание, художественный жест будет воспринят неправильно. Художник решает воспользоваться спекулятивным правом бездействия, молчания. Он принимает на себя роль куратора. В данном контексте, в данный период времени ему не хватает "позиции", его высказывание имеет в себе пустой центр. Неучастие художника, "пустой центр" становится его кураторской позицией. В исследовании на примере художественной и кураторской практики, раскрываются категории нереализованного и нереализуемого, проблематика связанная с данным феноменом. В исторической перспективе дано описание влияния нереализованного на становление художественных жанров. Как нереализованное становится стимулом к изменениям в художественной среде и институциональной политике.

Dissertation includes research which is concerned with unrealized projects/ exhibitions. Based on the international project - «Agency of unrealized projects» by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Anton Vidokle, dissertation has the aim to make analog research in the history of Russian contemporary art.

The methodology of the research will be the study of the phenomena of «Unrealized» and «unrealizable» through its historical perspective. Antique statues that now presented in the museums and in public places - are all unrealized projects that the authority sees as a complete project. Romanticism and idea of ‘infinito’ left behind the piece of arts which was not finished as a conceptual idea of the artists of that period. Modernism and Utopian soviet avangarde left behind a great number of unrealized projects which is now considered to be a part of a ‘soviet avangarde’. Postmodern concept of ‘project’ where the transformation of forms and edges of art is happening. Therefore, now there exists the problem of museum representation of art, transformation of the institution of contemporary art, and thus there are exists a great number of projects that still can not intergrate in new conditions. Now art after the artists is the new history and story which has its own development, and the research will be conducted as a study of all points of history of ‘unrealized’.

The research will conduct the ‘alternative future’ of projects that was in the upshot realized in the contrary with known unrealized projects. What is the conception of unrealized in the art is it.
