Verbs of imagination and supposition: Functional and semantic aspect (against the background of the Italian language)

Abstract

Выпускная квалификационная работа посвящена изучению семантики и функционирования лексико-семантической группы глаголов воображения и предположения, взятой из толкового словаря Л.Г. Бабенко (Бабенко 1999: 333- 336) на фоне итальянского языка. В исследовании разграничены процессы воображения и предположения, лексико-семантическая группа проклассифицирована и разделена на две подгруппы, глаголы воображения и глаголы предположения. Функционально-семантический анализ проведен на основе словарных определений входящих в состав лексико-семантической группы единиц, и контекстов употребления, взятых из Национального Корпуса Русского Языка. Также проведено сравнение русских глаголов воображения и предположения и их итальянских аналогов, извлекаемых из толковых итальянских словарей приемом сплошной выборки. Выявлены случаи полного и частичного соответствия, с различиями на функциональном уровне, на семантическом и на функционально-семантическом уровне. Случаев полного несоответствия не выявлено.

The final thesis is devoted to the study of the semantics and functioning of the lexico-semantic group of verbs of imagination and assumption, taken from the explanatory dictionary of L.G. Babenko (Babenko 1999: 333- 336) compared to the Italian language. In the study, the processes of imagination and assumption are differentiated, the lexico-semantic group is classified and divided into two subgroups, verbs of imagination and verbs of assumption. The functional-semantic analysis is carried out based on dictionary definitions of the units included in the lexico-semantic group, and the usage contexts taken from the National Corpus of the Russian Language. Furthermore, the comparison of the Russian verbs of imagination and assumption and their Italian counterparts extracted from the explanatory Italian dictionaries by the method of continuous sampling is conducted. Cases of full and partial correspondence, with differences at the functional level, at the semantic and at the functional-semantic level, have been identified. No cases of complete inconsistency have been identified.
