Functioning of variant nouns of females in Old Russian texts of the 11th-17th centuries

Abstract

Настоящая работа посвящена исследованию проблемы возникновения и функционирования вариантных наименований лиц женского пола в памятниках древнерусского языка XI–XVII вв. Источником материала послужили словари древнерусского языка (Словарь древнерусского языка (XI–XIV вв.), Словарь русского языка XI–XVII вв., Срезневский И.И. Материалы для Словаря древнерусского языка по письменным памятникам) и древнерусский подкорпус Национального корпуса русского языка. Объектом исследования являются 46 рядов слов-вариантов наименований лиц женского пола, включающих всего 111 лексем. Предмет исследования — словообразовательные модели (всего 34), обнаружившиеся в рядах слов. По результатам анализа феминативов были выделены следующие причины формирования дублетности в словообразовательном аспекте: необходимость гендерного маркирования лица посредством словообразования с суффиксом женскости, образование феминативов от разных производящих основ, замена суффиксов, утративших свое значение, замена иноязычных суффиксов, тенденция к экономии речевых усилий. На основании контекстов, в которых находятся вариантные слова-наименования лиц женского пола, были выявлены особенности их функционирования. Оказалось, что на соотношение словообразовательных дублетов с семой лица женского пола оказывают влияние такие факторы, как: необходимость различения двух женщин одной профессии/статуса в контексте, стиль памятника, его диалектная принадлежность, морфемное окружение варианта, личные предпочтения автора текста.

The present work is devoted to the study of the functioning of variant names of females in Old Russian texts of the 11th-17th centuries. Old russian dictionaries (the Dictionary of the Old Russian language (11–14 centuries), the Dictionary of the Russian language of the 11–17 centuries, Sreznevsky I.I. Materials for the Dictionary of the Old Russian language on written monuments) and the Old Russian subcorpus of the National Corpus of the Russian language served as a source of the material. The object of the study is 46 rows of words-variants of the names of femals, including a total of 111 lexemes. The subject of the study is word—formation models (34 in total) found in the rows of words. According to the results of the analysis of nouns of females, the following reasons for the formation of doublet in the word-formation aspect were identified: the need for gender labeling of a person through word formation with a feminine suffix, the formation of nouns of females from different generating bases, the replacement of suffixes that have lost their meaning, the replacement of foreign-language suffixes, the tendency to save speech efforts. On the basis of the contexts in which the variant words-names of females are located, the peculiarities of their functioning were identified. It turned out that the correlation of word-formation doublets with the seme of a female person is influenced by such factors as: the need to distinguish two women of the same profession /status in the context, the style of the monument, its dialect affiliation, the morphemic environment of the variant, the personal preferences of the author of the text.
