The lexico-thematic group "power" in the English political discourse

Abstract

Данная работа посвящена исследованию лексико-тематической группы «power» в английском политическом дискурсе. В теоретической части работы вводятся понятия, виды и характеристики дискурса и политического дискурса, а также понятие лексико-тематических групп. В практической части из десяти текстов было собрано 250 слов и словосочетаний, в качестве материала использовались инаугурационные речи десяти президентов США с применением метода случайной выборки. Анализ корпуса показывает, что категория “influence” лексико-тематической группы «power» является наиболее частотной в политическом дискурсе жанра инаугурационной речи, а наиболее употребляемые слова во всех категориях – слова среднего рода, причем наиболее частотными являются существительные.

This work is devoted to the study of the lexical-thematic group "power" in English political discourse. The theoretical part of the work introduces the concepts, types and characteristics of discourse and political discourse, as well as the concept of lexical-thematic groups. In the practical part, 250 words and phrases were collected from ten texts, the inaugural speeches of ten US presidents were used as material using the method of random sampling. The analysis of the corpus shows that the category "influence" of the lexical-thematic group "power" is the most frequent in the political discourse of the inaugural speech genre, and the most used words in all the categories are the words of the middle gender, and the most frequent words are nouns.
