Female figures in the works of J. Austin and L. Tolstoy ("Pride and Prejudice" and "Anna Karenina")

Abstract

В диссертации исследуются женские образы в творчестве Л.Н. Толстой и Дж. Остин («Анна Каренина», «Гордость и предубеждение»). Анна Каренина и Элизабет Беннетт принадлежат к самым обсуждаемым женским персонажам литературного мира. В наши дни вопрос о женской роли в обществе по-прежнему чрезвычайно актуален. В работе автор пытается раскрыть положение женщин в Англии начала XIX века и в России конца XIX века через жизнь и выбор главных героев романов.

The dissertation examines the female images in the works of Leo Tolstoy and J. Austin ("Anna Karenina", "Pride and Prejudice"). Anna Karenina and Elizabeth Bennett belong to the most discussed female characters of the literature world. Nowadays, the question of the position of women in the society is still extremely important. In this work the author attempts to reveal the position of women in England of the early 19th century and in Russia of the late 19th century, through the life and the choices of the main characters of the novels.
