Issues of translation of infinitives and infinitive constructions from Dutch into Russian: A case study of youth books

Abstract

Целью данной исследовательской работы является анализ способов перевода инфинитива с нидерландского на русский язык. ВКР состоит из введения, трёх глав, заключения и списка литературы. Во введении обоснована актуальность выбранной темы. Первая глава посвящена обзору функций инфинитива в нидерландском языке и переводческим стратегиям, применяемым в случае отсутствия эквивалента грамматического элемента ИЯ в ПЯ. Во второй главе на основе собранного материала будут рассмотрены и классифицированы способы перевода инфинитива и инфинитивных конструкций, а в третьей — субстантивированного инфинитива. В заключении приводятся случаи употребления нидерландского инфинитива, нехарактерные для русского языка, и перечисляются способы их перевода.

The aim of this research work is to analyze the methods of translating infinitive from Dutch into Russian. It consists of an introduction, three chapters, a conclusion and a list of references. In the introduction we explain the relevance of the chosen topic. In the first chapter we overview the functions of infinitive in Dutch and translation strategies used if there is no equivalent of the grammatical element of the source language in the target language. In the second chapter, on the basis of collected material, we overview and classify methods of translating infinitive and infinitive constructions and in the third we do the same for substantivized infinitive. In conclusion, we explain the usage of Dutch infinitive, that is not typical for Russian and the methods to translate it.
