Types of names of the protagonist in P. Süskind's novel Das Parfum and methods of their translation into Russian

Abstract

Настоящая выпускная квалификационная работа посвящена исследованию типов номинаций главного героя в романе П. Зюскинда «Парфюмер» («Das Parfum. Die Geschichte eines Mörders»), а также сопоставительному анализу данных номинаций и их соответствий в русском переводе, выполненным Э. В. Венгеровой. Объектом исследования выступила система номинаций главного героя; предметом — переводческие стратегии, используемые для создания эквивалентного образа персонажа на русском языке. Новизна и актуальность данного исследования определяется, прежде всего, сопоставительным характером, поскольку создаваемый автором портрет Жана-Батиста Гренуя сравнивается с тем портретом, который возникает в результате перевода романа на русский язык. Кроме того, разработка системы номинаций одного персонажа позволила выделить определенные закономерности функционирования различных видов номинаций на уровне художественного произведения. Для исследования был использован метод сплошной выборки, лингвистического, сопоставительного и статистического анализа. Всего было выявлено около 1500 номинаций, включая местоимения, а также имена собственные и нарицательные, как в изолированных позициях, так и в сочетании с различными видами атрибутивных конструкций. Комплексное изучение системы номинаций главного героя в романе П. Зюскинда, последовательное описание переводческих стратегий позволило нам выявить особенности создания портрета протагониста на немецком и русском языке, а также обратить внимание на особые средства выразительности художественного текста, требующие повышенного внимания со стороны переводчика.

This bachelor thesis is devoted to the research of the types of names of the protagonist in P. Süskind’s novel "Das Parfum. Die Geschichte eines Mörders ", as well as a comparative analysis of these names with their correspondences in the Russian translation by E. V. Vengerova. The object of research is the name system of the main character; the subject is the translation strategies used to create an equivalent character image in Russian. The novelty and relevance of this research is determined, first of all, by a comparative character, as the portrait of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille created by the author is compared with the portrait that appears as a result of the translation into Russian. In addition, the study of a name system of one character made it possible to single out certain regularities in the functioning of various types of names at the level of a literary work. The method of continuous sampling, linguistic, comparative and statistical analysis was used for the study. In total, about 1500 names were identified, including pronouns, as well as proper and common names, both in isolated positions and in combination with various types of attributive structures. A comprehensive study of the name system of the protagonist in P. Süskind's novel, a consistent description of the translation strategies allowed us to reveal the peculiarities of creating a portrait of the protagonist in German and in Russian, and also to pay attention to the special means of expressiveness of the literary text, which require increased attention when translating.
