The problem of controlling Iran’s nuclear programme: The Russian factor

Abstract

Данная исследовательская работа посвящена российскому фактору в проблеме контроля над иранской ядерной программой. Объектом исследования выступает ядерная программа Ирана, а предметом исследования является российская позиция и обусловленная ею политика в отношении конфликтного потенциала иранской ядерной программы. Главной целью исследования является проследить влияние России на урегулирование иранской ядерной проблемы и на снижение конфликтного потенциала иранской ядерной программы. В ходе исследования автор пришел к выводу о том, что Россия всегда поддерживала сотрудничество с Ираном, в том числе в рамках ядерной энергетики. Также Российская Федерация оказывала значительное влияние на урегулирование иранского ядерного конфликта, выступая в качестве «адвоката» Исламской Республики и понижая градус давления вокруг ее ядерной программы. Вместе с тем Российская Федерация понимает всю серьезность наращивания Ираном ядерного потенциала, именно поэтому она стремится к конструктивному диалогу на межгосударственном уровне.

The present research paper is concerned with the Russian factor in the control over the Iran's nuclear program. The object of the study is the Iranian nuclear program, and the research analysis is the Russian position and the policy that it determines with respect to the conflict potential of the Iranian nuclear program. The main objective of the study is the transitory influence of Russia on the solution of the Iranian nuclear program. In the course of the study, the author concluded that Russia has always supported cooperation with Iran, including in the framework of nuclear energy. The Russian Federation also had a great influence on the settlement of the Iranian nuclear conflict, acting as the "lawyer" of the Islamic Republic and reducing the degree of pressure around its nuclear program. At the same time, the Russian Federation understands the seriousness of Iran's nuclear build-up, which is why it seeks constructive dialogue at the interstate level.
