Linguoculturological adaptation in translations of Russian fairy tales into Italian

Рецензент: к.ф.н. Родосский А.В. Темой данной работы является анализ особенностей и методов перевода русских народных сказок на итальянский язык. В качестве лингвистического материала использованы русские народные сказки и их переводы на итальянский язык (выполненные A. Profumo и A. Canestri), объектом исследования являются реалии, наименования персонажей, а также особенности синтаксиса, встречающиеся в русских сказках. Цель работы - обозначить основные стратегии лингвокультурной адаптации при переводе русских сказок на итальянский язык и оценить степень адекватности перевода такого рода текстов. В рамках культурного обмена перевод фольклора представляется достаточно важным, однако, несмотря на то, что эта тема интересуют многих исследователей, и ей посвящено большое количество работ, в паре выбранных нами языков она малоизучена, не существует устоявшейся традиции, на которую могли бы опираться переводчики, занимающиеся подобным переводом. В нашей работе предпринята попытка проанализировать существующие переводы и выявить их сильные и слабые стороны. В этом состоит её актуальность. В первой главе данного исследования рассматриваются особенности русской народной сказки: её виды, основные действующие лица, а также стилистические особенности. Кроме того, в этой главе изучаются основные стратегии лингвокультурной адаптации и разбирается понятие реалии как основного источника возникновения лингвокультурной ассиметрии. Во второй главе проводится анализ переводов русских сказок на итальянский язык. Особое внимание уделено способам перевода русских реалий, кроме того, рассмотрены приемы передачи на итальянский язык имен персонажей и характерных для русской сказки лексических повторов. В заключительной части в кратком виде изложены выводы по всей работе, в которых отмечены наиболее популярные приемы перевода выбранного нами материала, а также отмечена низкая степень достижения прагматических целей перевода.

Reviewer: candidate of philology, docent Rodossky A.V. The subject of this paper is an analysis of the features and methods of translation Russian folk tales into Italian. As a linguistic material, we used Russian folk tales and their translations into Italian (made by A. Profumo and A. Canestri), the object of the study are realias, names of the characters, and also the syntax features found in Russian fairy tales. The aim of the research is to outline the main strategies of linguoculturological adaptation when translating Russian fairy tales into Italian and to assess the adequacy of the translation of such texts. In the contexte of cultural exchange, the translation of folklore seems to be quite important, however, despite the fact that many researchers are interested in this topic, and a large number of works have been devoted to it, it is poorly studied in a pair of chosen languages, there is no established tradition that translators, engaged in this kind of translation, could rely on. In our work, we made an attempt to analyze existing translations and to identify their strengths and weaknesses. This is the relevance of the paper. In the first chapter of this study, we considered the features of the Russian folk tale: its types, main characters, and stylistic features. In addition, this chapter explores the main strategies of linguistic and cultural adaptation and understands the concept of reality as the main source of the emergence of linguocultural asymmetry. The second chapter analyzes the translation of Russian fairy tales into Italian. Particular attention is paid to the ways of translating Russian national-loaded words, and also, we consider the methods of transferring the names of characters to the Italian language and the lexical repetitions characteristic of the Russian folk tale. The concluding part summarizes the conclusions on the whole work, in which we noted the most popular methods of translating the material selected by us, and also the low degree of achievement of the pragmatic goals of the translation.
