The stylistics of the horror genre in literature as illustrated by Horacio Quiroga's short stories

Abstract

Наша выпускная квалификационная работа посвящена исследованию стилистических особенностей "страшных рассказов" уругвайского писателя Орасио Кироги. В работе особое внимание уделено изучению текстовой репрезентации эмотивных смыслов и анализу выразительных и образных средств языка, фиксирующих определенное эмоциональное состояние субъекта в эмоциональном поле "страха". Полученные результаты исследования позволяют выявить некоторые закономерности отображения эмоций в контекстуальном пространстве художественных текста и охарактеризовать приемы, используемые в произведениях литературы ужасов для оказания глубокого эстетического воздействия на читателя.

The purpose of this final qualification work is to investigate the stylistic peculiarities of "scary novels" by Horacio Quiroga, an Uruguayan writer. In this work special attention is paid to the study of the textual representation of emotive meanings and the analysis of expressive and figurative means of language that fix the emotional state of a character in the emotional field of fear. The results of the research allow us to reveal certain regularities of the emotional reflection in the context of artistic texts and to describe the techniques typical for the horror genre that have a profound aesthetic impact on the reader.
