The "Russian style" in Moscow jewellery art practice at the end of the 19th century

Abstract

В данной работе рассматривается образование и развитие так называемого "русского стиля" на территории Москвы- течения, затронувшего все виды искусства рубежа XIX-XX вв. Внутри термина "русский стиль" можно выделить еще несколько течений - византийский, русско-византийский, русский и неорусский стиль. Путем изучения ассортимента трех крупнейших фабрик серебряных и золотых дел рубежа XIX-XX вв., автор ставит целью проследить эволюцию "русского стиля" в декоративном решении произведений московских фирм.

In that work the formation and developing of so-called 'Russian style' is being studied. A 'Russian style' is not a precise definition but a wide term reflecting the tendencies that the Russian art had during the second part of 19th century. That style involved all kinds of art and the term itself implies a couple of artistic movements - first, it was a so-called 'Byzantine' style, then it turned into a Russian-Byzantine, then there was a phase of Russian style and finally it was influenced by art nouveau and became a neoRussian style. By making a research on three main Moscow gold- and silversmith factories, their history and most importantly product range, author tries to follow the evolution of the 'Russian style' in the artwork of those factories.
