Comparative study of phraseological units in the English and Russian journalism: structural, semantic and contextual approach

Abstract

Работа посвящена исследованию структурных, семантических и контекстуальных особенностей фразеологических единиц (ФЕ) в публицистике в английском и русском языках. В качестве материала исследования были использованы оригинальные статьи в таких газетных изданиях, как «The Guardian» и «Коммерсант. В ходе работы были выявлены следующие характеристики: Во-первых, структурные ФЕ в английском языке можно разделить на семь групп. Во-вторых, структурные ФЕ в русском языке распределяются на две большие группы. В первую группу входят ФЕ, по структуре соответствующие предложению. Во вторую группу входят ФЕ, по структуре соответствующие сочетанию слов. Вторая группа выделяет двенадцать сочетаний. В-третьих, семантические ФЕ в английском и русском языках можно разделить на три группы: фразеологические сращения, фразеологические единства и фразеологические сочетания.В-четвертых, образность и экспрессивность являются основными функциями ФЕ в публицистическом стиле, поскольку они создают выразительность и эмоционально обогащают текст.

The work is devoted to the study of structural, semantic and contextual approaches of phraseological units in the English and Russian journalism. Articles in such newspaper publications as The Guardian and Kommersant were used as a research material. The following characteristics were revealed in the course of the work: Firstly, structural phraseological units in English can be divided into seven groups. Secondly, structural phraseological units in the Russian language is divided into two large groups. The first group includes phraseological units, according to the structure corresponding to the sentence. The second group includes phraseological units, according to the structure corresponding to a combination of words. The second group identifies twelve combinations. Thirdly, semantic phraseological units in English and Russian languages can be divided into three groups: phraseological fusion, phraseological unity and phraseological combinations. Fourth, imagery and expressiveness are the main functions of phraseological units in a journalistic style, as they create expressive and emotionally enrich the text.
