The thematic base and ideological framing in the US public discussion on immigration

Abstract

Работа анализирует транскрипты форумов по иммиграции в США для разработки аналитических критериев текстовой связности и структуры смысла. Аналитический метод основан на выделении трех элементов смысла – Тем, Идеологических моделей и Сценариев. В работе установлено, что на данной основе можно раскрыть природу вербального взаимодействия между участниками форума во время дискуссии; а также установить степень взаимопонимания между участниками и степень связности форума как целостного текста.

The paper analyses transcripts of two forums on immigration in the US in order to establish analytical criteria for determining their textual coherence and meaning structure. The analytical method is based on identifying three tiers of meaning: Themes, Frame Situations and Scenarios. Observations on how these three structural units reveal the nature of verbal interactions between the participants in the forum discussion provide the data determining the levels of cooperation and coherence of the forums.
