Language representation of the anxiety emotion in Stephen King's prose: The translation aspect

Abstract

Данная магистерская диссертация посвящена вопросам языковой репрезентации эмоции тревоги. Материалом для исследования послужили произведения американского писателя Стивена Кинга (романы «Оно», «Мертвая зона» и произведения малой прозы) и переводы этих произведений на русский язык. Основными методами, исследования являются сравнительно-сопоставительный и метод контекстуального анализа. В первой главе рассматриваются вопросы категоризации, классификации и репрезентации эмоций. Вторая глава посвящена анализу примеров репрезентации эмоции тревоги. Исследование выявило особенности перевода эмоции тревоги в художественном тексте.

The master’s thesis is dedicated to the issues of language representation of the anxiety emotion. The research is based upon the fiction by the American writer Stephen King (novels IT, The Dead Zone, and short stories) and their translations into Russian. The principle methods of the research are comparative and contextual analysis. The first chapter deals with the issues of categorisation, classification and language representation of emotions. The second chapter is dedicated to the analysis of the language representation of the anxiety emotion. The research demonstrates the characteristics of the Russian translations of the anxiety emotion in literature.
