The counting-out game genre in the lots-drawing practices (modern children's culture)

Abstract

Магистерская диссертация посвящена исследованию коммуникативных особенностей практики детских считалок в начале игры. Такой исследовательский фокус потребовал обратиться к детским считалкам как к специфической форме жребия, практики которого особенно актуальны в деревенском сообществе. Работа состоит из введения, трех глав, заключения, списка литературы и двух приложений. Материалом послужили аудиозаписи и видеозаписи интервью, фотографии из Фольклорного архива СПБГУ, сделанные в ходе фольклорно-антропологических экспедиций на Русский Север с 1981 по 2016 гг., в том числе собственные наблюдения и полевые записи автора диссертации в июле 2016 г. в д. Белощелье (Лешуконский район, Архангельская область). В первой главе работы представлен обзор публикаций и исследований, посвященных жанру считалки. В результате для решения поставленной цели выявления коммуникативных особенностей детских считалок в начальной стадии игры и определения роли детских считалок в современной детской культуре был подобран соответствующий теоретический инструментарий. Во второй главе анализируется понятие «жребий». Для этого рассматриваются функции жребия в различных ситуациях его использования (на примере севернорусской деревенской традиции), в том числе и в ситуации детской игры. Третья глава посвящена результатам полевого исследования, проведенного в д. Белощелье в 2016 г. в рамках фольклорно-антропологической экспедиции. Включенное наблюдение (по терминологии К. Гирца) позволило описать коммуникативные особенности использования детских считалок в начале игры. В главе рассматриваются детские игры, распространенные в деревне, а также способы выбора водящего, принятые в исследуемой группе детей. Одним из таких способов становится расчет по считалкам. Эта практика анализируется с учетом специфики ее составляющих – роли считающего и феномена жульничества. Предпринятое исследование дало возможность изучить практику считалок в современной детской культуре, причем с точки зрения понимания считалки как типа коммуникации.

Master degree thesis is dedicated to the study of communicative features of children’s counting-out games’ practice at the beginning of the game. This emphasis of the research has demanded to treat children’s counting-out game as a particular form of lots-drawing practice which is especially keen in rural community. The report consists of introduction, three chapters, conclusion, bibliography and two appendices. The material includes audio records and videotapes of the interviews, photographs from Folklore Archive of St. Petersburg University, which had been made in anthropological expeditions to the Russian North between 1981 and 2016, including personnel observations and in-field records of the author of the thesis in July 2016, Beloshchelye village (Leshukonsky district, Arkhangelsk region). In the first chapter of the work a review of publications and researches related to lots-drawing practice is presented. As a result, for the stated purpose of revealing the communicative features of the children's counting-out games in the initial stage of the game and determining the role of children's counting-out games in modern children's culture, an appropriate theoretical toolbox has been selected. In the second chapter, the concept of "lots-drawing practice" is analyzed. For this, lots-drawing practices are considered in various situations of its use (on the example of the Northern Russian village tradition), including in the situation of the children's game. The third chapter is dedicated to the results of the in-field study conducted in the Beloshchelye village in 2016 as part of the folklore-anthropological expedition. Thick description (according to C. Geertz’s terminology) allowed to describe the communicative features of using children's counting-out games at the beginning of the game. The chapter considers children's games, which are common in the village, as well as the methods of choosing he, accepted in the group of examined children. One of these methods is counting-out games. This practice is analysed considering its components peculiarities - the role of the counter and the cheating phenomenon. The conducted research allowed studying of the practice of counting-out games in modern children's culture, in terms of counting-out game as a type of communication.
