Migration of the German nobility in the 17th century: The aspects of international noble culture

Abstract

Ранее новое время ознаменовалось мощнейшими социальными коллизиями в истории Европы. Тридцатилетняя война бесспорно стала одной из них. Протестантские князья, сражавшиеся на стороне противников короны, подвергшиеся опале, вынуждены были искать прибежище и "новый дом" для себя, своей семьи и двора за пределами империи. Автор, рассматривая дворянскую миграцию во время Тридцатилетней войны, выделяет и обособляет различные аспекты, связанные с этим явлением. С помощью этих аспектов удается проследить несколько поведенческих моделей и стратегий адаптации в среде немецкого протестантского дворянства, той ее части, что была вынуждена покинуть земли Священной Римской империи. Особая роль отводится примерам трёх протестантских семей: пфальцские Виттельсбахи, маркграфы Баден-Дурлахские и герцог Вюртембергский.

Early modern historical period was marked by strong social conflicts in European history. The Thirty years war become one of them undoubtedley. The Protestant princes, who fought on the side of opponents of the crowm exposed to the disgrace, were forced to seek refuge and "new house" for himself, his family and his court outside the empire. The author, who considering the noble migration during the Thirty years war, selects and isolates various social, culture and ethnic aspects, which connected with this phenomenon. Using these aspects, it is possible to consider several behavioral models and adaptation strategies among the German Protestant nobility, rather the part of her thatwas forced to leave the lands of the Holy Roman Empire. A special role is given to examples of Protestant emigration of three families: the Palatinate Wittelsbach, Margrave of Baden-Dorfschule and Duke of Wurttemberg. The work consist of an introducthion, three chapters and a conclusion.
