Translation of stylised texts as illustrated by the translation of Boris Akunin's novel "He Lover of Death" into French and English

Abstract

АННОТАЦИЯ Выпускной квалификационной работы на соискание степени магистра лингвистики, направление: романские языки (инновационные технологии перевода: французский язык) Синяпкиной Екатерины Сергеевны «Особенности перевода стилизованного текста (на материале перевода романа Б. Акунина на французский и английский языки)» Данная работа представляет собой исследование особенностей перевода стилизованной лексики, а именно архаизмов, историзмов, фразеологизмов, имён собственных, жаргонизмов, арготизмов, вольностей устной речи и другой лексики, на французский и английский языки. Исследование проводится на материале романа Бориса Акунина «Любовник смерти», стилизованного под роман начала XX века, и ставит своей целью обзор различных способов перевода стилизованной лексики. В процессе исследования была выявлена лексика, представляющая особую переводческую трудность, это, в первую очередь, вольности устной речи, детский язык, архаизмы и предикативные фразеологизмы. Эта лексика не имеет ни эквивалентов, ни аналогов в языках перевода и требует от переводчиков проявления особого мастерства и находчивости при переводе.

Akunin “He lover of Death” into French and English)" This work represents research on special aspects of the translation of the stylized vocabulary, namely archaisms, historicisms, phraseological units, proper names, jargons, slang expressions, liberties of oral speech and other vocabulary, into French and English. The research is conducted on the material of Boris Akunin’s novel "He lover of death" written as it were a novel of the beginning of the 20th century. The research objective is the analysis of various ways of the translation of the stylized vocabulary. In the course of the research, the vocabulary that presents special translation difficulty has been revealed. These are, first of all, liberties of oral speech, children's language, archaisms and predicative phraseological units. This lexicon has neither equivalents nor analogs in target languages and demands from translators special skills and resourcefulness during the translation.
