Gender Roles of Modern Youth in Russia and China

Abstract

XX век известен политическими и социальными революциями, произошедшими в разных частях мира. Наряду с этим вторая половина двадцатого столетия ознаменовалась сексуальной и гендерной революциями. Произошло ослабление гендерной поляризации в сфере общественного разделения труда . Экономические, политические, социальные трансформации, происходящие в России и Китае в первой четверти ХХI века, оказывают воздействие как на институты общества, так и на социальные группы, а также отдельных индивидов. Молодежь – особенная социальная группа. Являясь стратегическим человеческим ресурсом любой страны, в силу ряда особенностей, она является уязвимой социально-демографической группой. Это уязвимость касается и восприятия гендерных установок. В ходе анкетного опроса российских студентов в целом было опрошено 115 человек, из них 47% женского пола, 53% мужского пола. С китайской стороны было опрошено 118 человек, из них 50% женского пола и 50% мужского пола. Гендерные роли современных мужчин и женщин, согласно мнению российских респондентов, обладают следующими особенностями. Гендерные роли девушки и жены отличаются. Если гендерный дисплей девушки более широкий, наделен феминными и маскулинными качествами, то гендерные роли супруги феминные и более традиционные, непосредственно связаны с ведением домашнего хозяйства. Гендерные роли парня и мужа цельны, носят маскулинный характер. Согласно мнению китайских респондентов, образы девушки и жены, парня и мужа цельны. Важной особенностью являлось единство выбора качеств, отдельные качества вовсе не пользовались популярностью, тогда как среди российских респондентов наблюдался больший разброс при выборе ответов. Это может говорить о том, что в Китае гендерные роли более стандартизированы, тогда как в России наблюдаются сторонники как традиционного, так и эгалитарного подходов. В результате анализа полученных данных можно отметить развитие гендерного порядка обеих стран в векторе эгалитаризма, что проявляется в подходе к содержанию гендерных ролей и стремлении к равноправным партнерским отношениям. Однако при этом часть российской молодежи по-прежнему придерживается традиционного гендерного подхода, где мужчина – лидер.

The twentieth century is known for the political and social revolutions that took place in different parts of the world. At the same time, the second half of the twentieth century was marked by sexual and gender revolutions. Gender polarisation in the social division of labour has weakened. Economic, political and social transformations taking place in Russia and China in the first quarter of the twenty-first century have an impact both on the institutions of society and on social groups and individuals. Youth is a special social group. Being a strategic human resource of any country, they are a vulnerable socio-demographic group due to a number of peculiarities. This vulnerability also applies to the perception of gender attitudes. During the questionnaire survey of Russian students, a total of 115 people were interviewed, of which 47% were female, 53% were male. On the Chinese side, 118 people were interviewed, of which 50% were female and 50% were male. The gender roles of modern men and women, according to Russian respondents, have the following features. The gender roles of a girl and a wife are different. If the girl’s gender display is broader, endowed with feminine and masculine qualities, then the wife’s gender roles are feminine and more traditional, directly related to housekeeping. The gender roles of boyfriend and husband are integral and masculine in nature. According to Chinese respondents, the images of a girl and a wife, a boyfriend and a husband are integral. An important feature was the unity of the choice of qualities; individual qualities were not at all popular, while among Russian respondents there was greater variation in the choice of answers. This may indicate that in China gender roles are more standardized, while in Russia there are supporters of both traditional and egalitarian approaches. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained, one can note the development of the gender order of both countries in the vector of egalitarianism, which is manifested in the approach to the content of gender roles and the desire for equal partnerships. However, at the same time, some Russian youth still adhere to the traditional gender approach, where the man is the leader.
