Portrait descriptions in Nabokov's story "Ringing": Lexical and thematic groups and their functions

Аннотация к выпускной квалификационной работе Бакалавра лингвистики Тянь Бовэнь на тему: «Портретные описания в рассказе В. Набокова «Звонок»: лексико-тематические группы и их функции». Исследование состоит в выявлении лексико-тематических групп, образуемых лексическими средствами портретных описаний матери и сына в рассказе В. Набокова «Звонок», и в определении цели их использования в данном тексте. Функции портретных описаний в рассказе Набокова «Звонок» многозначны, но основная функция - помочь читателям понять основную мысль этого произведения, образно раскрывая жизненный путь главного героя к духовному прозрению. Анализ лексико-тематических групп портретных описаний помог представить образ главного героя (как внешний, так и внутренний) и понять основной мотив текста – мотив отчуждения.

Abstract for the final qualification paper Bachelor's of linguistics Tian Bowen on "Portrait descriptions in V. Nabokov's story "'Ringing': lexical-thematic groups and their functions". The research is to identify lexical-thematic groups, formed by lexical means of portrait descriptions of mother and son in V. Nabokov's story " Ringing" and to determine the purpose of their use in this text. The functions of portrait descriptions in Nabokov's story "Ringing" are multivalent, but the main function is to help readers understand the main idea of this work, figuratively revealing the life path of the main character to spiritual enlightenment. The analysis of the lexical-thematic groups of portrait descriptions helped to present the image of the protagonist (both external and internal) and to understand the main motif of the text - the motif of alienation.
