Comparative analysis of key point detecting methods in the image

Abstract

В данной работе рассмотрен сравнительный анализ распространённых методов детектирования особых точек на изображении. Работа состоит из двух частей. В первой рассмотрен принцип функционирования каждого из методов, а также их основные достоинства и недостатки. Во второй, с помощью разработанного автором инструментария, были проведены тесты рассмотренных ранее методов на множестве изображений. Результаты тестов были проанализированы и на основе них были сделаны выводы о достоинствах и недостатках рассмотренных детекторов, а также о возможных сценариях их применения.

In this paper we conduct the comparative analysis of common key point detecting methods in the image. The paper is divided in two major parts. In the first part we consider principles of how these methods work and their main advantages and disadvantages. In the second part we test the detectors on the set of images, using the software developed by this paper's autor. The results of the tests were analysed and used as a basis for conclusions about advantages and disadvantages of the detecting methods and about possible reasons to use every one of them.
