Restoration of five half-leather bindings of 19th century books from the collection of the Dmitri Mendeleev Museum of St.Petersburg University

Abstract

Для реставрации выбрано пять полукожаных переплетов конца 19 века из собрания музея Д.И.Менделеева Санкт-Петербургского государственного университета. Пять наиболее чаще встречающихся повреждений переплета этого собрания, пять основных элементов конструкции переплёта: 1. книжный блок, 2. шнуры шитья, 3. картонные крышки, 4. кожа: корешок, уголки, 5. мраморная бумага. Пять шагов комплексного похода по принципу реставрации библиотечных фондов. Использование обратимых материалов и клеев, сохранение в переплете прочностных и эксплуатационных характеристик. Различные по тематике, но составляющие одно целое всего собрания библиотеки, в дальнейшем могут реставрироваться по этому принципу и методике. Результат одобрен главным хранителем и работниками музея.

Five semi-leather bindings of the late 19th century from the collection of the library of the Mendeleev Museum-Archive of St. Petersburg State University were selected for restoration. Five steps of a comprehensive campaign on the principle of restoration of library collections. The use of reversible materials and adhesives, the preservation of strength and performance characteristics in the binding. Different in subject matter, but forming one whole of the entire collection of the library, in the future can be restored according to this principle and method. The result was approved by the chief curator and the museum staff.
