The theme of the riot in the Russian and French historical adventure novel of the 19th century

Abstract

Исторический роман уделяет большое внимание описанию смутных периодов и восстаний. Персонажи таких произведений очень часто вовлечены в водоворот исторических событий того периода, к которому они принадлежат, и который очень часто является ключевым периодом в истории страны. В настоящей работе предлагается проанализировать тему бунта в двух исторических приключенческих романах XIX века, действие которых происходит в России : "Капитанская дочка" Александра Пушкина и "Учитель фехтования" Александра Дюма. Кратко напомнив основные черты того, что лежит в основе исторического романа, и, в частности, особенности исторического романа Вальтера Скотта, эта работа рассматривает место обих романов в этом жанре, а также влияние, оказываемое на них романами «шотланского чародея ». Опираясь на литературную теорию возможных миров и классификацию персонажей Теренса Парсонса, эта работа затем исследует интерпретации исторических фактов и состав главных персонажей в обоих романах, чтобы показать, как обоим писателям удается создать убедительный мир, один четко следуя историческому факту, другой искажая его.

The historical novel gives a large place to the description of troubled periods and revolt. The characters of these works are very often carried away by the whirlwinds of historical events of the period to which they belong and which very often happens to be a pivotal period in the history of a country. This work proposes to analyze the theme of the revolt in two historical adventure novels of the XIX century set in Russia: The Captain's Daughter, by Alexander Pushkin and The Fencing Master by Alexandre Dumas. After briefly recalling the main lines of what is the basis of the historical novel and in particular the characteristics of Walter Scott's historical novel, this work examines the place of the two works within this genre as well as the influence exerted on them by the novels of the "English wizard". Based on the literary theory of possible worlds and the character classification of Tenrece Parsons, this work then examines the treatment of historical facts and the composition of the main characters in both works to show how the two novelists each manage to create a world to which they manage to make us adhere, one clearly following a historical fact, the other distorting it.
