The role of ecotourism and sustainable development in the hospitality and tourism industry

Abstract

Данное исследование посвящено определению роли экотуризма и устойчивого развития в индустрии гостеприимства и туризма. Актуальность работы обусловлена возрастающим государственным интересом к развитию внутреннего экологического туризма в России, а также мировой тенденцией к устойчивому развитию и соблюдению баланса между социумом и природой. В магистерской диссертации представлены теоретические аспекты понятия экотуризма, классификация его видов и роль экотуризма во взаимодействии человека с окружающей средой. В рамках работы проведено социологическое исследование об информированности населения о роли экотуризма и устойчивого развития в индустрии туризма. Также исследование содержит анализ стратегии развития индустрии экотуризма в сравнительной перспективе на примере Северо-Запада России и Финляндии, обозначено влияние пандемии COVID-19 на развитие внутреннего туризма России и дальнейшие перспективы отрасли. Рассмотрены основные элементы туристического дискурса в России с акцентом на определение места экотуризма и основные нарративы, сопровождающие трансляцию информации о нем.

The study considers the role of ecotourism definition and sustainable development in the hospitality and tourism industry. The topic is relevant due to the growing state interest in domestic ecotourism in Russia, as well as the global trend towards sustainable development and maintaining a balance between society and nature. The master thesis provides the theoretical aspects of the ecotourism concept, the classification of its types and the role of ecotourism in human interaction with the environment. As part of the research, a sociological study was conducted on the public awareness of the role of ecotourism and sustainable development in the tourism industry. Moreover, the study contains the strategy analysis for the development of the ecotourism industry in a comparative perspective on the example of the North-Western Region of Russia and Finland. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the development of domestic tourism in Russia and its prospects are taken into account. The research emphasizes the main elements of the tourism discourse in Russia focusing on ecotourism and the main narratives that accompany its information spreading.
