Stylistic features of the Swedish "clear language" ("lattlast")

Abstract

“Ясный язык” - специально адаптированный язык текстов и устной речи, предназначенный преимущественно для лиц с особыми потребностями. Швеция является одной из ведущих стран в сфере создания и преобразования материалов на “ясном языке”, за последние полвека там издали более 1000 наименований "ясных текстов", как художественных, так и публицистики. В данной работе через призму перевода на "ясный язык" стандартных шведских текстов информативного характера анализируются основные языковые и стилистические особенности шведского "ясного языка". Автор стремится установить, какие лингвистические факторы делают язык “ясным” и выявить стратегии перевода на него оригинальных текстов, рассматривая перевод на "ясный язык" в качестве разновидности внутриязыкового перевода (адаптации).

'Clear language' is an adapted language of written texts and oral speech which is addressed primarily to persons with special needs. Sweden is one of the leading countries in the field of writing and adaptation of easy-to-read materials, more than 1000 denominations have been published there in recent years, including both fiction and non-fiction books. This study focuses on primary linguistic and stylistic features of the 'clear language' from the perspective of investigating non-fiction texts' translations into it. The author aims to identify what linguistic factors make the language 'easy-to-read' and outline some strategies for translation of common texts into 'easy-to-read' ones. In the thesis 'clear language translation' is considered one of the forms of intralingual translation (adaptation).
