Linguistic and pragmatic potential of the dialect in Eva Menasse's novel "Vienna"

Abstract

Лингвопрагматический потенциал диалекта в романе «Вена» Евы Менассе Одной из отличительных черт австрийской литературы является использование широкого этнофункционального потенциала диалекта как средства создания речевого портрета языковой личности – героя художественного произведения. Практическим материалом данной выпускной квалификационной работы служит автобиографический роман Евы Менассе «Vienna». Цель работы – выявить специфические языковые структуры, характерные для немецких диалектов Австрии, и показать их роль в формировании речевого портрета персонажей, создании австрийского (венского) колорита и отражении этнических и культурных ценностей региона. В процессе работы выполнены следующие задачи: 1) описаны общие и специфические особенности австрийских диалектов; 2) уточнена роль венского диалекта как основной наддиалектной формы немецкого языка в Австрии; 2) проведен анализ речи персонажей и определены функции диалекта как средства устного бытового общения героев романа; как средства региональной идентификации и социальной характеристики персонажа; как средства речевого воздействия; как средства выражения эмоций и т.п.

Linguiopragmatic potential of the dialect in the novel "Vienna" by Eva Menasse. One of the distinguishing features of Austrian literature is the use of the wide ethno-functional potential of the dialect as a means of creating a verbal portrait of a linguistic personality - the hero of a work of art. The empirical material of the research qualifying work is the autobiographical novel by Eva Menasse "Vienna". The purpose of the work is to identify the specific language structures of the German dialects of Austria and show their role in the formation of the verbal portrait of the characters, in the creation of the Austrian (Viennese) local flavor and in the reflection of the ethnic and cultural values of the region. In the process of the research, the following tasks were performed: 1) general and specific features of the Austrian dialects were described; 2) the role of the Viennese dialect as the main supra-dialect form of the German language in Austria has been clarified; 2) an analysis of the speech of the characters was carried out and the functions of the dialect were determined as a means of oral everyday communication of the characters of the novel; as a means of regional and social identification of the protagonist; as a means of speech influence; as a means of expressing emotions, etc.
