Screen adaptation of a novel in developing interactive skills of Chinese students: A case study of the film adaptation of Harper Lee’s novel "To Kill a Mockingbird"

Выпускная квалификационная работа посвящена теме развития навыков англоязычного устного общения у студентов из КНР при помощи экранизации художественного произведения. В рамках данной работы предметом исследования является обучение студентов из КНР устному англоязычному общению при помощи экранизации романа Х. Ли «Убить пересмешника» (H. Lee «To Kill a Mockingbird») (1962). Объектом изучения является обучение англоязычной диалогической речи студентов из КНР в условиях трилингвизма. Цель дипломной работы, состоящая в разработке методических рекомендаций по данному вопросу, обоснована необходимостью поиска возможности погружения в иноязычную среду и оптимизации процесса обучения. Актуальность данной работы обоснована необходимостью разработки методических рекомендаций для данной группы студентов в условиях трилингвизма. В данной работе представлены результаты анкетирования студентов и преподавателей, а также результаты педагогического наблюдения. На основе материалов анкетирования и педагогического наблюдения предложены методические рекомендации, нацеленные на решение обнаруженных проблем. Работа имеет следующую структуру: введение, две главы, заключение, список использованной литературы и приложения.

This thesis focuses on the topic of developing English-language oral communication skills of Chinese students using screen adaptation of a work of fiction. The subject of this work is teaching Chinese students English-language oral communication with the help of screen adaptation of H. Lee's novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" (1962). The object of the study is to teach English-language dialogical speech to Chinese students in a trilingual environment. The aim of the thesis, which is to develop methodological recommendations on this issue, is justified by the need to find an opportunity of immersion in a foreign language environment and to optimize the learning process. The relevance of this work is justified by the need to develop methodological recommendations for this group of students in a trilingual environment. The research presents the results of the survey among the students and teachers, as well as the results of pedagogical observation. Based on the materials of the survey and pedagogical observation the methodological recommendations aimed at solving the revealed problems are proposed. The paper has the following structure: introduction, two chapters, conclusion, list of references and attachments.
