The features of the engineering-geological structure of the Cambrian clay formation: a case study of a quarry in Nikolskoye (the Leningrad region)

Строительство новых жилищных массивов и инфраструктурных объектов требует поставок больших объёмов строительных материалов, среди которых важное место занимают керамические изделия. Для их производства необходимо вводить в разработку новые месторождения глин, в частности, нижнекембрийских. В настоящей работе на примере Никольского карьера рассмотрены свойства синих глин сиверской свиты с множества точек зрения: инженерно-геологической, гидрогеологической, литогеохимической, минералогической, структурно-тектонической. С помощью комплексного подхода к изучению толщи выделены особенности её строения, определены пригодные для разработки интервалы.

The construction of new housing estates and infrastructure facilities requires the supply of large volumes of building materials, among which ceramic products occupy an important place. For their production, it is necessary to bring into development new deposits of clays, in particular, Lower Cambrian ones. In this paper, in case of Nikolsky quarry, the properties of blue clays of the Siver Formation are considered from many points of view: engineering-geological, hydrogeological, lithogeochemical, mineralogical, structural-tectonic. Using the integrated approach to the study of the strata, the features of its structure were identified, and intervals suitable for development were determined.
