Ergonyms in present-day urban linguistic landscape

Abstract

Настоящая работа посвящена изучению эргонимов (коммерческих предприятий) сферы общественного питания в языковом ландшафте двух европейских городов ‒ Таллина (Эстония) и Санкт-Петербурга (Россия). Исследуется система городских наименований, на основании собранного материала составляется классификация и определяются особенности создания эргонимов, проводится опрос и сравнительный анализ полученных результатов, выявляются наиболее популярные модели номинаций как среди номинаторов, так и среди потенциальных клиентов.

The present master thesis is devoted to the study of the ergonyms (commercial names) of the public catering establishment in the linguistic landscape of two European cities like Tallinn (Estonia) and St. Petersburg (Russia). During our research we studied the system of urban names. Based on the collected material we worked out the classification of ergonyms’ creation types and defined the special aspects of names’ creation. In thesis are conducted the opinion poll and the comparative analysis of the poll’s results. Eventually, the most popular models of nominations among nominators and potential customers are defined.
