Derivational nests with the roots “-муж-“ (man) and “-жен-” (woman) in the modern Russian language: Functional and semantic aspect

Abstract

Словообразование является важным разделом лингвистики. Благодаря словообразованию язык постоянно пополняется новыми словами с различной структурой и семантикой, которые служат для удовлетворения потребностей общения. Знание правил словообразования, умение членить слово на составные компоненты, определять роль и значение частей слова важно для иностранцев. С точки зрения способов словообразования, слова с корнями -муж- и -жен- разнообразны и часто употребляются в современном русском языке. Слова мужчина и женщина обладают огромным лингвокультурологическим потенциалом.

Word formation is an important branch of linguistics. In response to word formation, the language is constantly replenished with new words with different structures and semantics, which serve to meet the needs of communication. Knowledge of the rules of word formation, the ability to divide a word into its constituent components, to determine the role and meaning of word parts is important for foreigners. In terms of word formation methods, words with roots -муж- (muzh) and -жен- (zhen) are diverse and are often used in modern Russian language. The words мужчина (man) and женщина (woman) have enormous linguocultural potential.
