Lexical and syntactical patterns as a stylistic category in the short story "White Nights" by Fyodor Dostoevsky and its translations into Portuguese

Abstract

Данная работа посвящена изучению функционирования повтора как стилистической категории в переводах на португальский язык повести Ф. М. Достоевского «Белые ночи», а также сравнению передачи повторов в каждом из переводов.

В первой главе мы рассматриваем повтор как лингвистическое явление, описываем существующие подходы к исследованию феномена повтора и классификацию повторов в творчестве Достоевского.

Во второй главе были проанализированы случаи употребления повтора в повести «Белые ночи» и их соответствия в текстах романа на португальском языке, а также проведен сравнительный анализ повторов в прямом и вторичном переводах и сделаны выводы об их эквивалентности оригинальному тексту.

В результате приведённого анализа было выявлено, что уровень эквивалентности перевода повторов выше, во-первых, в диалогической речи, чем монологической, во-вторых, в контактных повторах, чем в дистантных, в-третьих, в малокомпонентных повторах, чем в многокомпонентных; были предоставлены некоторые замечания, касающиеся переводческих трансформаций в переводе повторов, а также дана попытка вынести гипотезы о причинах наблюдаемых явлениях. Более того, анализ переводов повторов в прямом и вторичном переводах подтвердил положение о большей близости к оригиналу прямого перевода.

This work is devoted to the study of the functioning of repetition as a stylistic category in the Portuguese translations of the novel "White Nights" by F. M. Dostoevsky, as well as the comparison of the transmission of repetitions in each of the translations.

In the first chapter, we consider repetition as a linguistic phenomenon, describe the existing approaches to the study of the phenomenon of repetition and the classification of repetitions in the work of Dostoevsky.

In the second chapter, the cases of the use of repetition in the story "White Nights" and their correspondence in the texts of the novel in Portuguese were analyzed, and the conclusions about their equivalence to the original text were drawn.

As a result of the analysis, it was revealed that the level of equivalence of translation of repetitions is higher, firstly, in dialogic speech than in monologue, secondly, in contact repetitions than in distant ones, thirdly, in low-component repetitions than in multicomponent ones; some comments were made regarding translation transformations in the translation of repetitions, and an attempt was made to make hypotheses about the causes of the observed phenomena. Moreover, the analysis of translations of repetitions in direct and secondary translations confirmed the position of greater proxymity to the original of the direct translation.
