Alexander Pushkin’s "Undertaker" in the context of a fantastic story of the 1820s

Исторически корректная интерпретация «Гробовщика» неизбежно требует контекста романтической прозы — прежде всего в форме фантастической повести. В настоящей работе предлагается обзор ранних образцов этого жанра в русской литературе и попытка их концептуального осмысления . Обнаружение ведущей тенденции фантастических повествований 1820-х годов позволяет уточнить место пушкинского произведения в литературной эволюции и показать специфику прозы «Золотого века».

Historically correct interpretation of "The Undertaker " inevitably requires the context of romantic prose -particularly in the form of a fantastic story. This paper provides an overview of the early examples of this genre in Russian literature and makes an attempt to conceptualize them. The detection of the leading fantastic narratives' tendency in the 1820s allows us to clarify the place of Pushkin's work in the literary evolution and to show the specifics of the "Golden Age" prose.
