Pragmatics of metatextual structures in Otfrid’s Poem

Abstract

В настоящей работе рассматриваются метатекстовые структуры из древневерхненемецкой поэмы Отфрида (9 век). Из текста выбраны 150 примеров. Проводится подробный анализ метатекстовых структур с точки зрения их формы и функции, т.е., морфолого-синтаксический и прагматический анализ. Обнаруживается, что метатекстовые структуры чаще всего оказываются представленными глаголами речевой деятельности. Проводится классификация примеров. Глаголы, составляющие метатекстовые структуры, рассматриваются в порядке частотности их появления. Итогом работы становится прагматический анализ метатекстовых структур, при котором выделяются их различные прагматические типы и выявляются имплицитные авторские интенции.

The work is focused on metatextual structures from the poem in Old High German by Otfrid (9th century). It examines 150 examples from the poem. The metatextual structures are analysed in details from the point of view of their form and function, that is, morphological-syntactical and pragmatic analysis. It is found out that metatextual structures are most commonly represented by verbs of verbal actions. The examples are classified. The verbs that the metatextual structures consist of are examined in the order of their frequency in the text of the poem. The final stage of the work is the pragmatic analysis of the metatextual structures that distinguishes the different pragmatic types and reveals the implicit intentions of the author.
