dc.description.abstract | Аннотация. | ru_RU |
dc.description.abstract | Abstract This study is dedicated to a comprehensive analysis of ancient Egyptian motifs in 19th century Western European decorative art. The purpose of the study is to identify the main routes and trends associated with the emergence and development of ancient Egyptian motifs, images and symbolic elements in Western European decorative art. Previously, the role and importance of the Egyptomania phenomenon was largely dismissed, and sometimes deliberately treated as a purely singular occurrence or merely secondary component in a number of art styles or movements. However, an analysis of decorative objects made of distinctly different materials using distinctive techniques and decorative styles clearly shows a certain degree of independence and co-alignment of artistic processes associated with the development of ancient Egyptian style in European art, and also reveals the significant potential of this ancient culture as a synthetic source for inspiration and development of creative techniques of Western European artists and craftsmen. The work is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is dedicated to an analysis of the historical and cultural context associated with the emergence and development of the Egyptomania tradition during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The second chapter identifies the images, symbols and themes of ancient Egypt that were most commonly used by Western European artists and craftsmen. The results of this chapter suggest that jewelry is the most representative form of decorative art within the scope of this study, in terms of both pure motifs and themes and their reimagining by craftsmen. Therefore, the rich tapestry of creative and artistic experimentation with ancient Egyptian themes by European craftsmen was analysed in a separate, third chapter of the study. Prior to writing this study, a sample of decorative art objects was compiled from the collections of leading local and foreign institutions, museums and antique dealers. | en_GB |
