Problems of English-Russian translation of texts on art history

Abstract

Данная работа посвящена исследованию перевода искусствоведческих текстов, в частности, переводу терминов искусствоведения с английского языка на русский, а также выявлению наиболее частотных способов перевода данных терминов. Целью исследования является выявление наиболее частотных способов перевода искусствоведческих терминов в специальных текстах по искусствоведению с английского языка на русский язык. Материалом исследования является книга Gabrielle Fahr-Becker «Art Nouveau» на английском языке и перевод этой книги «Искусство модерна» (Габриель Фар-Беккер) на русском языке, а также ряд статей по искусствоведению. Научная новизна работы состоит в том, что впервые детально исследуются способы перевода терминов искусствоведения в специальных научных текстах.

This work is dedicated to the study of translation of texts on the art history, in particular, the translation of art terms from English language into Russian, as well as the detection of the most frequent methods of translation of these terms. The objective of the study is to identify the most frequent methods of translation of art history terms in the special texts on art history from English language to Russian. The material of the study is the book Art Nouveau by Gabrielle Fahr-Becker in English and its translation in Russian, as well as a number of articles on art history. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that this s the first case of detailed research on methods of translation of art history terms in special scientific texts.
