The prospectivity assessment of Ti - Zr placers on the northern coast of the Gulf of Finland

Проведено исследование северного берега восточной части Финского залива (пляж возле посёлков Комарово и Репино) на оценку перспективности Ti-Zr россыпных проявлений. Отобраны пробы пляжевых песков, из которых выделена тяжёлая фракция минералов, содержание которых варьирует (0.2 - 1.1%). С помощью микрозондового исследования было определено большинство россыпеобразующих минералов и составлены их формульные единицы. С помощью магнитного фракционирования и шлихового анализа выяснены содержания рудных минералов (Ilm - 25,7-214,8 г/т, Zrn - 14,1-57,1 г/т). Выяснено, что Россыпные проявления северного берега восточной части Финского залива являются невыдержанными по простиранию. Минералогический состав и характер окатанности тяжёлой фракции шлиха россыпных проявлений не обнаруживают значительных вариаций и свидетельствуют об одном вероятном источнике сноса, которым является Фенноскандинавский щит. Исходя из проделанной работы и анализа литературных источников, можно сделать вывод, что исследуемое ильменит-цирконовое россыпное проявление неперспективно.

The research of the Northern shore of the Eastern part of the Gulf of Finland (the beach near the villages of Komarovo and Repino) to assess the prospects of Ti-Zr placer manifestations. Samples of beach Sands were taken, from which a heavy fraction of minerals was isolated, the content of which varies (0.2 - 1.1%). Using microprobe analysis, the majority of placer-forming minerals were determined and their formula units were composed. Using magnetic fractionation and concentrate analysis, ore mineral content was determined (Ilm - 25,7-214,8 g/t, Zrn - 14,1-57,1 g/t). It was found that Placer manifestations of the Northern shore of the Eastern part of the Gulf of Finland are not sustained along the strike. The mineralogical composition and character of the heavy fraction of the concentrate of placer manifestations do not reveal significant variations and indicate one probable source of demolition, which is the Fennoscandian shield. Based on the work done and the analysis of literary sources, it can be concluded that the studied ilmenite-zircon placer manifestation is unpromising.
