The artistic features of the short stories of Ahmed Hamdi Tanpinar’s short story collection "Abdüllah Efendi'nin Rüyaları" ("The dreams of Abdullah Efendi") as works of modernism

Предмет исследования – первая книга писателя, сборник новелл «Грёзы Абдуллаха Эфенди» («Abdullah Efendinin Rüyaları»). Цель выпускной квалификационной работы – рассмотреть художественные особенности новелл сборника «Грёзы Абдуллаха Эфенди» в свете теории модернизма. В работе был осуществлен краткий обзор главных черт и особенностей европейского литературного модернизма. Затем были рассмотрены социально-исторические и культурные предпосылки возникновения модернизма в турецкой литературе и дана его характеристика. Кроме того, был описан жизненный и творческий путь Ахмеда Хамди Танпынара, а также проведен анализ новелл сборника «Грёзы Абдуллаха Эфенди».

The paper numbers 64 pages The paper consists of following sections: introduction, three chapters, conclusion, list of references and an appendix. Subject of the study: Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar’s 1st book, the collection of short stories named as “Dreams of Abdullah Efendi”. Aim of the study: analysis of literary peculiarities of the collection of short stories “The Dreams of Abdullah Efendi” according to the modernism theory. The study is dedicated to the brief review of the main features of modernism as European literary movement. Social and historical, cultural factors of emergence of modernism in the Turkish literature are described. Characteristics of modernism in the Turkish literature is also discussed in the paper. Moreover, much attention in the work is given to the description of Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar’s life and creative career and to the analysis of his collection of stories named as “The Dreams of Abdullah Efendi”.
