Sabotage as a communicative strategy in a dialogue

Abstract

Данная диссертация посвящена коммуникативному саботажу как одной из стратегий, используемых в диалоге. Зачастую участник коммуникации не готов прямо ответить на вопрос собеседника, исходя из этого он пытается либо как-то уклониться от ответа, сменить тему, либо дать весьма неясный ответ. При этом саботаж может принимать разные формы, начиная с ухода от ответа до попытки обидеть собеседника, навязать свое мнение об обсуждаемой теме. Саботаж может иметь вербальное и невербальное выражение. В данной работе рассматриваются англоязычные примеры выражения коммуникативного саботажа в диалоге в произведениях одного автора - Рекса Стаута, что поможет исследовать не только саму репрезентацию коммуникативного саботажа, но и обратить внимание на экстралингвистические факторы использования персонажами данной стратегии.

This paper is devoted to the study of sabotage as one of the communicative strategies used in a dialogue. Frequently a participant of the communication is not ready to answer the question directly. As a result, the participant tries to avoid answering, to change the subject, or to give a vague answer. At the same time sabotage may range from refusal to respond to attempts at hurting the feelings of the interlocutor and imposing their own opinion on the subject under discussion. Sabotage can have verbal and non-verbal representation. Examples of the communicative sabotage given in this work have been found in the novels by Rex Stout. The results obtained in the study may help to reveal types of the linguistic representation as well as the extralinguistic factors for using such strategy by characters.
