Evaluative means of describing the social group "students": A case study of Russian prose of the late 19th century

Abstract

Объект исследования – языковые единицы, используемые в функции оценки в текстах художественной прозы конца XIX в. Цель исследования: провести комплексное описание языковых средств, передающих различные оценки социальной группы «студенчество» в русской прозе конца XIX века. Методы: сплошной выборки; научного описания; контекстуального анализа; словарного толкования; сопоставительного анализа; квантитативный метод. Теоретическая значимость заключается в системном описании разноуровневых языковых средств, передающих оценку в русской прозе и отражающих сложившееся в обществе восприятие отдельной социальной группы. Практическая значимость – в возможности использования результатов в курсах стилистики, лексикологии, культурологии, а также в качестве информативно-справочного материала при работе с литературными текстами XIX–XX вв. Новизна – рассмотрение оценочные описаний в лингвокультурологическом аспекте и обращение к текстовому материалу, редко попадавшему в поле зрения лингвистов.

The object of research is the linguistic units which are used in the evaluation function in the texts of artistic prose at the end of the 19th century. The purpose of the research: to make a comprehensive description of the linguistic means that express various evaluations of the social group "students" in Russian prose at the end of the 19th century. Methods: continuous sampling; scientific description; contextual analysis; dictionary interpretation; comparative analysis; quantitative method. The theoretical significance is the systematic description of the different levels of linguistic means that express the evaluation in Russian prose and reflect the perception of a separate social group in society. Practical significance is in the possibility of using the results in the courses of stylistics, lexicology, cultural studies, and also as an informative reference material at the time of working with literary texts of the 19th-20th centuries. Novelty is the consideration of evaluative descriptions in the cultural linguistics aspect and the reference to textual material that rarely came to the attention of linguists.
