Transit through Baltic ports and foreign policy interests of Russia

Abstract

В магистерской диссертации представлены результаты комплексного исследования, наглядно показывающие взаимосвязь транзита через порты Прибалтики и внешнеполитических интересов России. Тема представляет научно-практический интерес, поскольку страны Прибалтики для Российской Федерации являются главными конкурентами при осуществлении транзита на европейском направлении. Ввиду обострения российско-прибалтийских отношений проблемы транзита через порты Прибалтики в контексте национальных интересов Российской Федерации приобрели особую актуальность. Проведенный в данном исследовании анализ статистических объемов грузооборота и транзита в портах Северо-Запада России и Прибалтики за период 2009-2017 гг. обозначил динамику развития прибалтийских и российских портов. На основании полученных данных и анализа представленных в графиках и таблицах тенденций грузооборота, сделаны выводы относительно перспектив развития транзита через порты Прибалтики исходя из внешнеполитических интересов России.

The master's degree thesis presents the results of a comprehensive study that visually demonstrates the relationship of transit through the Baltic ports and Russia's foreign policy interests. The topic has scientific and practical interest, since the Baltic countries are the main competitors in the implementation of transit in the European direction for the Russian Federation. Because of the aggravation of Russian-Baltic relations, the problems of transit through the Baltic ports in the context of the national interests of the Russian Federation have become very relevant. The study outlined the dynamics of the development of the Baltic and Russian ports due to the analysis of statistical data on cargo turnover and transit in the ports of the North-West of Russia and the Baltic States for the period 2009-2017. Based on the obtained data, as well as on the basis of existing trends in cargo turnover, graphically shown in the graphs and tables, conclusions have been made regarding the prospects for the development of transit through the Baltic ports based on Russia's foreign policy interests.
