The Syrian conflict in Chinese media

Abstract

Объект исследования: военно-политический конфликт в Сирии как объект внимания китайских СМИ. Предмет исследования: роль китайских СМИ в освещении военно- политического конфликта в Сирии. Цель исследования: установить место и роль китайских СМИ в освещении военно-политического конфликта в Сирии. В дипломную работу входит введение, две главы, два вывода по написанным главам, итоговое заключение. Нами были рассмотрены теоретико-методологические основы освещения военно-политических конфликтов средствами массовой информации (СМИ). Проведенный анализ научной литературы показал, что в условиях глобализации военно-политические конфликты создают серьезную угрозу мировому сообществу в связи с возможностью их расширения, опасностью экологических и военных катастроф, высокой вероятностью массовых миграций населения, способных дестабилизировать ситуацию в сопредельных государствах (в настоящее время, например, миграция беженцев из Сирии в Европу). Поэтому со всей остротой встает вопрос об изучении природы современных военно-политических конфликтов и вопросов их объективного освещения в СМИ. Также был осуществлен анализ содержания и сущности военно- политического конфликта в Сирии. Противоречивость мнений, позиций экспертов, аналитиков, политиков и прочих общественных деятелей свидетельствует о разностороннем понимании сущности военно- политического конфликта в Сирии. Это позволяет сделать предположение о том, что сущность военно-политического конфликта по-разному освещается средствами массовой информации. Нами был изучен вопрос освещения сирийского конфликта в Китайских СМИ. В первую очередь отметим, что Китай неизменно играет активную роль в политическом решении сирийской проблемы, поддерживает то, что Сирия защищает свой суверенитет и независимость. У военных Китая и Сирии существуют устоявшиеся связи, китайские военные намерены продолжить укреплять сотрудничество и связи с военными Сирии. Формирование образа военно-политического конфликта в Сирии было рассмотрено на примере восьми китайских СМИ, среди которых – газеты, журналы, телеканалы. Анализ осуществлялся по ряду выделенных критериев для структуризации полученных результатов. Также по отношению к китайским СМИ был проанализирован аспект профессиональной этики в высказываниях, касающихся военно- политического конфликта в Сирии. Проблема спасения культурного наследия Сирии также нашла отражение в китайских СМИ, подчеркивающих особое богатство и важность культурного наследия Сирии, значимость консолидации мировых сил для его сохранения и восстановления, а также особую роль международных организаций в решении данной проблемы. В результате работы было выяснено, что профессионально-этический аспект освещения военно-политического конфликта в Сирии китайскими СМИ представляется весьма выраженным и находится на высоком уровне: китайские СМИ сдержанны в этом плане, соблюдают профессиональную этику и внимательно относятся к своим высказываниям. Также согласно полученным результатам, китайские СМИ формируют образ военно- политического конфликта в Сирии как важнейшего мирового события, требующего внимания со стороны всех участников и прочих государств, стремящихся к обеспечению «мира во всем мире». Китайские СМИ не высказывают резкой критики в отношении каких-либо сторон военно- политического конфликта, но активно рассуждают о его причинах, ходе и возможных последствиях. При этом китайские СМИ преимущественно соглашаются с точкой зрения «Официальной России» о том, какова сущность военно-политического конфликта в Сирии и перспективы его разрешения, урегулирования.

The object of the study: the military-political conflict in Syria as an object of attention of the Chinese media. The subject of the study: the role of the Chinese media in representation of the military-political conflict in Syria. The aim of the study is to establish the place and role of the Chinese media in covering the military and political conflict in Syria. The thesis includes an introduction, two chapters, two conclusions of the chapters and the final conclusion. We have considered the theoretical and methodological bases of representation of the military-political conflicts made by the mass media. The analysis of scientific literature has shown that in the context of globalization, military and political conflicts cause a serious threat to the world community in connection with the possibility of their expansion. The danger of ecological and military catastrophes and the high probability of mass migration are capable of destabilizing the situation in neighboring countries (for instance, the present-day migration of refugees from Syria to Europe). Therefore, the question of studying the matter of contemporary military and political conflicts and the issues of their objective representation in the media arises with all its severity. There were analyzed the content and the matter of the military-political conflict in Syria. The inconsistency of the opinions, positions of experts, analysts,politicians and other public figures shows a versatile understanding of the matter of the military-political conflict in Syria. This allows us to make the assumption that the matter of the conflict is represented in different ways by the media. We have studied the issue of reporting of the Syrian conflict in the Chinese media. First of all, we specify that China firmly plays an active role in the political settlement of the Syrian problem, maintaining the fact that Syria defends its sovereignty and independence. The military of China and Syria have stable relations; the Chinese military authorities intend to continue to reinforce cooperation with Syrian ones. The military-political conflict in Syria and creation of its image was examined basing on the example of eight Chinese media, including newspapers, magazines, and television channels. The analysis was carried out according to a number of criteria for structuring the results. According to the received results, the Chinese media forms the image of the conflict in Syria as the most important global event thus requiring attention from all participants and states that seek to establish «world peace». Herewith the Chinese media doesn’t opine unambiguously critical of any aspects of the conflict, but argues of its causes, course and possible consequences. At the same time, the Chinese media mostly agree with «Official Russia’s» viewpoint about the matter of the military-political conflict in Syria and also the perspectives for its future resolution and settlement. Regarding to the Chinese media, an aspect of professional ethics was analyzed based on statements concerning the military-political conflict in Syria. The problem of preservation Syria's cultural heritage was also reflected in the Chinese media, emphasizing the special wealth and importance of Syria's cultural heritage. Without doubt the importance of consolidating the world's forces for preservation and restoration of Syria's cultural heritage and the special role of international organizations in solving this problem were also considered here. As a result of the work it was found out that the professional-ethical aspect of coverage of the military-political conflict in Syria by the Chinese media seems to be very pronounced and is at a high level: the Chinese media are restrained in this regard, observe professional ethics and pay close attention to their statements.Also, according to the results obtained, the Chinese media are shaping the image of the military-political conflict in Syria as the most important global event requiring attention from all participants and other states that are striving to ensure "peace in the world".The Chinese media are not sharply critical of any aspects of the military-political conflict, but are actively discussing its causes, course and possible consequences. At the same time, the Chinese media mostly agree with the view of "Official Russia" about the essence of the military-political conflict in Syria and the prospects for its resolution and settlement.
