The linguistic means of portraying a contemporary as illustrated by Boris Ekimov's collection of short stories "Coming Back"

Abstract

В данной работе анализируются языковые средства создания образа героев рассказов Б.П. Екимова из сборника «Возращение». Были проанализированы языковые средства описания характера героя, внешности, поведения и его речевых характеристик. В связи с повышенным вниманием современных ученых к психолингвистике, а также к проблемам художественного образа и языковой личности, актуальность данного исследования не может быть недооценена. В теоретической главе были подробно рассмотрены понятия «образ», «языковая личность», «модель поведения» и некоторые другие. В практической главе дан подробный анализ всего комплекса языковых средств описания образа, использованного русским писателем Б.П. Екимовым в своих рассказах. Творчество данного писателя раннее не анализировалось с позиций лингвистики. Его произведения в полной мере отражают дух и нравы того времени.

In this research we have analysed the linguistical means of characters’ image creation (taken from the compilation of short stories by B.P. Yekimov). Linguistical means of characters’ temperament, appearance, behavior and speech description have been analysed. Due to the high attention of linguists to psycholinguistics, artistic image and linguistic personality the importance of this work cannot be underestimated. In theoretical chapter we provide description for these terms that are important for our paper (image, linguistic personality, behavior model, etc.). In practical chapter we give wide analysis of the vocabulary complex to describe character’s image that is used by the author in his short stories. Yekimov’s works haven’t been reviewed from the psycholinguistical position yet. His works fully reflect the features and mores of that time.
