Role of political communication in constructing public opinion: A case study of Legislative Assembly of St.Petersburg elections

Abstract

18 сентября 2016 года в РФ прошли выборы в Законодательное собрание Санкт-Петербурга. Результаты восприняли неоднозначно. Прошедшие выборы - особенные. Волеизъявление проходило в единый день голосования и по новой смешанной системе. Поэтому, интересно проследить особенности предвыборных кампаний. Однако изучение выборов - это комплексные исследования c разнородными данными. Качественный сравнительный анализ, разработанный Ч. Рагиным - логический инструмент сравнения. Проведенный на основе КСА контент-анализ печатных материалов выборов 2016 позволил работать с качественно-количественными переменными. Мы можем задавать вопросы, но возникают сложности: неоднородность данных, множественная причинность явлений, необходимость работы с крупными массивами данных. Техника КСАчм способна работать в этих условиях.

On the 18th of September, 2016 there were elections to Legislative assembly of Saint-Petersburg. Election results were perceived ambiguously. Those elections are unique. The voting was done in a single day with a mixed system. Because of that, it was exciting to look at features of pre-election campaigns. However, research of elections is a complex task with heterogeneous data. Qualitative comparative analysis, which was created by Ragin, is a logical comparative tool. Content-analysis of print materials of 2016 elections, which was done with QCA, made it possible to work with both quantitative and qualitative variables. We can ask question, but there are difficulties: heterogeneity of data, multicasuality of phenomena, the need to work with big data. QCAds could work in those conditions.
