British–Russian relations during Tony Blair's first office as Prime Minister (1997 – 2001)

Abstract

Данная работа посвящена изучению проблемы развития британо-российских отношений с того момента, когда Тони Блэр стал премьер-министром Великобритании в мае 1997 года и до его переизбрания в июне 2001 года. В исследовании рассматриваются разные аспекты двусторонних отношений в указанный период, рассматривается и анализируется как положительная, так и отрицательная динамика в двусторонних отношениях данного периода. В исследовании также поднимается вопрос комплексного обзора разных сфер сотрудничества 2-х стран. Сама диссертация состоит из введения, двух глав, заключения, списка использованных источников и литературы и посвящена исследованию двух важных групп факторов, влиявших на динамику британо-российских отношений. В первой главе рассматриваются внутренние факторы изменения отношений. Среди внутренних факторов рассматриваются позиции местных элит, данные общественного мнения, а также личные отношения между фактическими лидерами 2-х стран. Во второй главе уделено внимание внешним факторам, таким как сходство и различие позиций по международной повестке, урегулирование кризисных ситуаций в Косово и Чечне, а также внешнеэкономические связи.

This study is devoted to the study of the development of British-Russian relations from the moment when Tony Blair became prime minister of Great Britain in May 1997 and until his re-election in June 2001. The study examines various aspects of bilateral relations during this period, examines and analyzes both positive and negative dynamics in bilateral relations of this period. The study also raises the issue of a comprehensive review of the various areas of cooperation between the two countries. The thesis itself consists of an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion, a list of used sources and literature, and is devoted to the study of two important groups of factors influencing the dynamics of the British-Russian relations. In the first chapter, the internal factors are considered. Among internal factors, the positions of local elites, public opinion data, as well as personal relationships between the actual leaders of the two countries are considered. In the second chapter the attention is given to external factors, such as similarities and differences in positions on the international agenda, the settlement of crisis situations in Kosovo and Chechnya, as well as economic relations between the UK and the Russian Federation.
