Decadence as a socio-cultural phenomenon of the 1920s in the USSR

Abstract

В данном исследовании рассмотрено оформившееся к середине 1920-х гг. социокультурное явление упадочничества. В советском дискурсе оно было противопоставлено идее социалистического строительства. Основное внимание сосредоточено на том, как «упадочничество» стало следствием советского эмоционального режима и почему оно обрело политическую значимость. Через рассмотрение советского дискурса и комсомольской повседневности автор выявляет специфику этого явления, его границы и практики.

In this study is considered the socio-cultural phenomenon named "upadochnichestvo" which formed around the mid-1920s. It was opposed to the idea of socialist construction in the Soviet discourse. The main focus is on how "upadochnichestvo" became a consequence of the Soviet emotional regime and why it gained political significance. Through the consideration of Soviet discourse and the Komsomol's daily, the author reveals the specifics of this phenomenon, its boundaries and practices.
